Our Story
Chimera Legacy Foundation was founded by Leukaemia, Bone Marrow Transplant, Graft versus host disease (GVHD) and Double Lung Transplant survivor Damien Thompson. Damien’s vision is to improve each patient’s experience throughout each step of their healthcare journey.
"When I was first diagnosed my whole world changed. I struggled to absorb the reality of my disease let alone my treatment. I was overwhelmed! Finding it difficult to comprehend and understand the complexity of my situation caused a lot of stress so I started to seek more information.
While I found comfort in reaching out to other patients and survivors who had experienced what I was about to experience I was still left with many unanswered questions. I quickly began to realise this wasn't an isolated problem, many patients experienced the same. Although I considered myself very fortunate to have such a great team of doctors and nursing staff, I found their services limited to a time and place.
This made me think, what if there was a way I could access information anywhere and anytime? Using my experiences, I set out to find a way.
